Saga of Samuel: Old Things Pages 19 & 20
Since the last update I’ve totally changed jobs and my new job has freed me from the shackles of having to do freelance illustration. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate every single person that has ever sought me out and willingly paid me to design/illustrate something but near the end there it started to feel like actual work and I wasn’t getting any enjoyment out of it. I’d rather dig ditches in the blazing sun (or in my case be a graphic designer in a climate controlled environment) than create art begrudgingly for monetary reasons alone. It felt like my art wasn’t my own anymore and that’s not why my 7 year old self wanted to be an artist.
So, the art I make is my own once again but my new job takes up way more time than my old job did because, alas, there’s always an obstacle. Such is life.
