From the Sketchpad: Saga People

Here are 4 potential characters that may make it into the Saga. I adamantly refuse to be historically accurate with weapons and armor and such because this comic will always lean more to the fantastic rather than the realistic if I have to say anything about it and since I’m the only one here…Booyah!

From the Sketchpad

Due to a mysterious crippling pain in my drawing hand that came and went and an unforseen problem where upgrading to Windows 7 made my old Serial port Wacom completely useless, I haven’t got much done when it comes to the comic. Today was the first day I was able to do some drawing without any pain.

On the left is a concept sketch for a Philistine warrior. The right shows a Snake-Eyes type character that may or may not ever appear in the comic. Do my undying adoration of the G.I. Joe Commando/Ninja and the fact that I have 4 Snake-Eyes action figures posed just underneath my monitor it was inevitable. I imagine him living alone in the dessert fighting a silent war against the Philistines. While I may never use him he’ll still be out there fighting the good fight.

While looking through LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary my 5yr old son calls me over to see this prototype sculpt and states “ Look Daddy this guy is made of cheese and meat!”

Solomon Kane

Solomon1

Solomon Kane is Robert E. Howard’s second best creation, the first being Conan (the Barbarian not the Tonight Show host). According to the character’s Wikipedia entry Solomon Kane is a 16th century Puritan who “wanders the world with no apparent goal other than to vanquish evil in all its forms.” Sounds good to me. While the movie might very well stink the movie poster certainly doesn’t. That is one beautiful piece of art.
