Peninnah

The 1st wife of Elkanah. Although having lived with it for many years Peninnah still resents that she has to share her husband with his other wife Hannah. Despite this, Peninnah finds that she has great affection for Samuel, Hannah’s first child. Knowing that her taunts helped push her rival into making her desperate plea to God, Peninnah feels responsible for the boy’s lot in life.
