My inspiration for The Saga of Samuel is not today’s modern comic books but the old serial comic strips of days gone by. Like the previously mentioned Flash Gordon by Alex Raymond another big inspiration is Hal Foster’s Prince Valiant. While the strip has had many artists over it’s 70 plus years of existance, Hal Foster, the creator of the strip, was also it’s best artist. Not much comes up with a Google search but the page below is example of the skill Foster had.
